LEJONKLOU Superkikkin Compact Line Preamp

A 2-input, compact preamp with surprising musicality.  It redefines musical engagement for the price and size.  Simply superb!

Superkikkin Lit

The Superkikkin is a new, compact, analog line-stage preamplifier with two pairs of inputs and one pair of outputs. It is housed in an Entity/Slipsik/Giella- sized case and remote controlled with no physical buttons on the front. The design shares many details with the original Kikkin, which was introduced in 2008 and discontinued ten years ago. But Superkikkin has a new level of musicality, thanks to a total redesign and many new components and techniques. Indeed this small unit musically outperforms the discontinued Sagatun 1.4 stereo preamp, a unit that already punched well above its weight musically but sold for almost twice the price of the Superkikkin! It allows music to flow through and touch you in a way that other preamps, even quite expensive ones, just don’t. While not quite in the league of our Sagatun Mono 1.7 preamps it is not unfair to say it suprisingly close for the price and compact footprint.

The compromises of the Superkikkin mainly just come down to flexibility. It has only two inputs, though that makes it suitable for 90 percent of music lover’s systems, and it only has one set of outputs. No fixed outputs and no second set of preamp outs like the Sagatuns. But what it does, it does with aplomb and ease. Selecting the input is a simple reach to the right-side back to flip a switch up for 1 and down for 2. Control of volume and two-stage muting is via the included Lejonklou remote control, with indication by the Lejonklou color-change LED system. In summary, Superkikkin offers a tremendous amount of musical satisfaction from a small and simple box with just the needed functions and at a very affordable price.
